Milton Keynes Rugby Club are delighted to announce the appointment of former player, coach, and clubman Chris Monaghan as Head Coach for the Men’s Section. Chris officially joins the club on the 1st July and will immediately begin planning and preparation in readiness for the start of the 2023-24 season.

Following a thorough recruitment process and out of respect for Chris’s current club Old Verulamians, where Chris enjoyed success in their 2022/23 season leading the team to a strong league performance and a semi-final place in the Papa John’s Plate, we are now able to formally confirm the appointment.

Chris commented ‘I’m super proud and excited to be back at Milton Keynes RUFC as Head Coach. I have a lot of love for this club and excited to work with the players, rugby, and leadership team to support the club’s growth plans. With a thriving Women’s and M&J sections the club is in a great position and here’s to a bright future for MK! I am hoping to build on the great work started by Dan, then Aldam latterly.’

Mark Taylor, Vice-Chair, said ‘We are genuinely excited for Chris to get started – his enthusiasm and passion are infectious, his attention to detail meticulous, and we know Chris will cast a wide reach over all the Senior sections as we transition our Colts over the next couple of years, and support the continued development of our Women’s Section. Chris is well known to many of our Men’s teams and will deliver a great experience for all of our Senior team squads - welcome back Chris!’

After a much-needed break, we look forward to seeing Chris in action at pre-season training from July at The Valley!
