The Milton Keynes RUFC Ring of Fire 250 mile cycle ride starts TOMORROW!

Tomorrow, 81 riders from the MK rugby family will cycle 250 miles in 3 days with the sole intention to raise £100,000 for our 3 chosen good causes, and we are almost there! Players, former players, members, life members, VP’s, volunteers, staff, the whole rugby family comes together tomorrow to support our incredible annual fund raising efforts on two wheels.

Our amazing riders will take part in the first UK only RING OF FIRE bike ride weekend covering three short loops of 50/100/100 miles over Friday, Saturday and Sunday in sunny Norfolk UK.

The Friday 50, takes our riders up to the coast near Cley-next-the-Sea, along to Sheringham and back to Skeyton. On Saturday we embark on the Norwich 100 loop taking in the rugby clubs around Norwich and back to Skeyton. Then to top it all off we have the 'hangover' Sunday Challenge to conclude the weekend. This last challenge will take us to the East Norfolk Coast. A compact 250 miles over 2.5 days.

An amazing support team of 25 volunteers will also be fundraising, and helping the cyclists get round the loops.

We are raising money for:

1. Willen Hospice Willen Hospice - End of life palliative care (willen-hospice.org.uk)
2. Ed Slater and the Gloucester Rugby 4ED campaign: Gloucester Rugby
3. MKRUFC rugby development and support:

As many of you know, former MKRUFC player Ed Slater, was diagnosed with MND last year, immediately retiring from professional rugby, where he has played for both Gloucester & Leicester Tigers.

One of those causes we are raising important funds is for Ed and his family. 4Ed is a fundraising campaign set up by Gloucester Rugby Club to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and to provide support for Ed Slater and his young family. A number of our riders know him personally having played alongside Ed for Milton Keynes. They have watched his career with pride, and appreciate his support when he turns up at our club games. This devastating news is no doubt the reason why the number of riders has almost doubled this year.

We have a dedicated Facebook page set up posting daily updates so if havent followed yet, please give the page a like and show them your support. The team are doing an incredible job and would love your support.
