City put up a strong fight in Stratford tournament!

In preparation for the new season Milton Keynes RFC competed in a small tournament at Stratford Upon Avon at the weekend. This was always going to be a tough proposition with all sides one or two levels about them.

Although not a full squad, the team put up a good performance and managed to beat Oxford Harlequins in the first match. With Oxford being 2 leagues above City this was a great start and indicated the level of fitness achieved by the coaches over the summer.

There were good performances all round and gave an opportunity for new and up and coming players to show their worth.

The second match was a tougher contest against Dudley RFC and City came out second best.

The final match was against the home side. This was a hard fought contest with the final score being 7 – 7. This was again a good result with Stratford RFC being in a higher league than City.

The tournament was a good opportunity to test the standard of play for the new season and identifies that there is a good depth of players in most positions.

The next test is Bletchley on Saturday 27th August. A match that is always competitive!
