Milton keynes lose away to beaconsfield in the cup.

Following on from the defeat at Beaconsfield the previous Saturday due mainly to the worrying injury count of senior squad players, the same problem loomed this Saturday with city having drawn Beaconsfield away in the first round in the Intermediate Cup it would have been the easy option to cry of and hand the round to the opposition, but instead to help the walking wounded to heal the decision was made to honour the fixture with a total “club side “ this made up from players from all 3 senior sides.
This was always going to a difficult game to pull off and so it proved to be, Milton Keynes started the hard work but Beaconsfield charged up field to score, Milton Keynes responded with a typical City forward drive to the hosts try line and given a penalty awarded in front of the posts duly missed the chance to get on the score sheet.
Beaconsfield were off again and scored a converted try , taking their tally to 12, on the half hour was a major point in the game when “stand in” outside half Dan Walker was red carded for a stamping offence, this through the visitors completely, and Beaconsfield run in 2 more tries 1 converted pushed the score to 24, Milton Keynes ended the half with renewed spirit and come close to scoring through the efforts of Steve Christie, Andy Poole and Dan Matthews, but to no avail and the half ended Beaconsfield 24 Milton Keynes 0

Within the first five minutes Beaconsfield had their prop yellow carded to even up the sides if only for 10 minutes, during this period the home side scored and converted, A substitution brining on Stuart Tomkinson coming on just after the break, boosted the team and Milton Keynes managed their first points with a fine try finished of by Tim Parkinson and converting his own try score now Beaconsfield 31 Milton Keynes 7. The final 15 minutes went to the home side with 3 more tries 1 converted,
Not to take anything away from the victors but this Milton Keynes team worked very hard on this game from start to finish and they left the field with their heads held high.

Next Saturday City are back at the Valley with the next league game against Slough with hopefully some of the core players back in action.
