A very bluster day at the Valley and Milton Keynes opt to play down the slope for the first half, the first quarter was all to do with penalties Phil Powell slotting 2 out of 3 and Slough returning with just 1.
Milton Keynes began to take control, especially in the forwards, with the first choice front row back in action, after several moves towards the Slough line, the first try of the game going to the home side with a great run from centre Andy Poole, and following a quick recycle the ball flicked to prop Kerien McConnell to score, a good conversion by Phil Powell and Milton Keynes were starting to look in full control of the game.
5 minutes from the restart and centre Dan Rolfe received the ball inside his own half and went straight down the middle of the park, breaking tackles on the way, realised he could make the try line, with a change of gear to get there, dived to score under the post, an easier conversion for Phil Powell, and the hosts were 20 points to 3 to the good. Slough replied with another penalty as the half ended 20 point to 6
Milton Keynes were back for more points, within 5 minutes of the restart and another successful penalty the referee catching Slough off side. A third try for Milton Keynes was manufactured from the three quarters and after some great inter-passing Rob Lasbury, finished the move to score once again Powell obliged with the boot.
Milton Keynes took thier foot of the pedal in the last 10 minutes of the game and allowed Slough back into the game allowing the visitors 2 tries.
The final score, Milton Keynes - 30 Slough - 16.
The only down side was city not adding the 4 try, bonus point, when during the game had the opportunity to score at least 3 further tries.
Milton Keynes next big game is at home on 29th October against Aylesbury.
